Do you love Joe Hisaishi? I really do. If you love animes by Hayao Miyazaki of GHIBLI, you must do, too. If you love movies by Takeshi Kitano, you also must do. I believe Joe Hisaishi is an indispensable companion with Miyazaki animes and Kitano movies.
Maybe I don't need any explanation to the Japanese very famous music composer. Thus I move on my personal favorite tunes of him. My best one is "Path of Wind" (Japanese tittle: Kaze no Tourimichi) from "My Neighbor Totoro" (Tonari no Totoro).
My Neighbor Totoro
I don't know why but I always feel "setsunai" and sometime can't stop tears up in my eyes when I hear the sound.
My favorite scene from the anime is here: Satsuki and Mei plant the seeds. A few days, later they awaken at midnight to find Totoro and his two miniature colleagues engaged in a ceremonial dance around the planted nuts and seeds. The girls join in, whereupon the seeds sprout and then grow into an enormous tree. Totoro takes his colleagues and the girls for a ride on a magical flying top. (From Wikipedia)
"Path of Wind" spin this scene. I love it! This number has several versions such as Child Chorus, or Shakuhachi (Japanese bamboo clarinet) version. You should search on YouTube if you like it.
My second best is "Summer" from the Kitano movie "Kikujiro no Natsu".
Kikujiro no Natsu
"Summer" is the opening theme and very impressive beginning of the movie.
According to Wikipedia: "Kikujiro no Natsu" tells the story of a young boy searching for his mother during his summer vacation. The film is mostly divided into smaller chapters, listed as entries in the boy's summer vacation diary. Kitano's inspiration for the character (not the film) was his own father, Kikujiro Kitano, a gambler who struggled to feed his family and pay the rent.
The film was allegedly inspired by The Wizard of Oz with the basic premise being a road trip. Kitano's familiar elements and locales are present: drawings, vignettes, the seaside, and angels. Although the plot is composed largely of sad events, the film often has a light-hearted atmosphere, achieved mostly through Kitano's character and his somewhat bizarre encounters.
The third of my favorite tune is "Kimi wo Nosete" from Miyazaki anime "Laputa".
They are just personal favorite. There are other famous tunes of Joe Hisaishi such as the theme from "Mononoke Hime" or "Spirited Away". So I put them up from YouTube.
What is your best favorite ?
It is a snow today. Moreover, do it accumulate?
It performs Hisaisi by BS tonight. Then, again.
