Have you ever experienced reading a book or seeing a movie with laughed and teared at the same time? In my case, seeing a movie "Satorare" (English title is "Transparent: Tribute to a Sad Genius") was exactly such a case.
Satorare
Japanese word "Satoru" means "realize" and "Sato-rareru" is the passive expression of it. So "Satorare" means a person whose thought has always seen through for everyone around him/her.
According to yesasia.com: Satorare - Tribute to a Sad Genius is an unexpected and engaging film that mixes elements of romance, science fiction, conspiracy thriller, and even family comedy! Kenichi Satomi is a "satorare (transparent)", a person suffering from "Dissociative Bulesis Transmission Disorder", a condition where the afflicted transmits their personal thoughts to anyone within a 10 meter radius. Transparents are unaware of their condition, and are strategically separated and monitored by the government's Bureau of Transparent Protection, whose concern for the transparents stems from their invariably high IQs and ability to do untold scientific good. Kenichi desires to become a surgeon one day and serve the public, but the Bureau is concerned about such a public occupation. Psychiatrist Yoko Komatsu is sent to observe and possibly convince Kenichi that a secluded research position would be better for him, but his complete and unintentional honesty touches her, and she begins to fall in love with him. But the question arises: does the government have the right to decide the fates of anyone, even someone so unique and possibly fragile as a transparent? Director Motohiro Katsuyuki brings a warm humanity and light charm to Satorare - Tribute to a Sad Genius, an entertaining, intelligent, and unique motion picture experience!
As this well description, "Satorare" is filled with a feeling like comedy with heartwarming and "setsunai" feeling.
Original Manga: Transparent
This movie directed Katsuyuki Motohiro, who is is based on a manga, the same title by Makoto Sato. It is a series of short stories; however, the original manga has been altered, and well combined among several stories, especially episode 1-4 of Vol 1.
So the movie and the manga is different. In my opinion, both of them are really heartwarming, but the manga is like more laughed, and the movie is more teared, than each other. I love both of them anyway.
Probably this movie is loved by many people around the world. Thus, there are the complete movie with English subtitle on Youtube. This is from below:
